Jennifer’s Secrets
Q: How did you become self-employed?
A: I started as a travel blogger, back in February of 2015, I was traveling with clean water filters to developing countries and working with social, sustainable brands. I did that for about 3.5 years.
I was doing really well and started to get noticed as someone who knew how to build a brand online, so I created my first online course in September of 2018, which quickly changed everything for me.
I relaunched my Youtube Channel in 2019 and began speaking on stages about personal branding, social media, and creating passive income.
Q: What’s something you do to help boost your productivity?
A: Having a morning routine and prioritizing my time and energy. I don’t believe you can fill from an empty cup, so I make sure that my personal and physical well-being remains a priority.
Q: How do you find work-life balance?
A: I treat my business as if I had a 9-5 job and I had a boss who was paying me. Also, nothing is ever an emergency — I am not in the business of saving babies 😉.
Q: What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve received so far?
A: Don’t watch someone else’s plate of food when yours is getting cold. Meaning, do not spend too much time watching others — focus on yourself.
Q: What’s your favorite software or app that helps with your workflow?
A: Toggl, Google Calendar, Click Up, and my Spotify “work and focus” playlist.
Q: What’s a book or podcast you’d recommend to a colleague?
A: The Big Leap, You’re a Badass At Making Money, Think & Grow Rich, The Mountain is You, and Principles: Life and Work.
