How to Answer “Salary Expectations” Question

Takeaways:

  • One of the trickiest questions to answer during an interview is “What are you salary expectations?” If you answer too low, you’re risking them lowballing you. Say a number too high, and risk them writing you off as too expensive.
  • Don’t say: “I make $45k now, so anything more than that would be great!”
  • Instead try: “Thanks for bringing that up. I’d love to know the approved salary range for the position.”
    • And if they say, we don’t have a salary range. You can say: “Got it. I’d love to learn the specific of the role before giving out a solid number. But I can tell you I’m interviewing for roles that are in the $65-96K range”

How to Keep in Touch With Friends Among Our Busy Lives

Takeaways:

  • Find apps that deepen relationships but are asynchronous like Marco Polo so you can communicate at times that work for your schedule.
  • When a friend calls when you’re busy — don’t decline. Pick it up and say, “Hey, I’m running into a meeting but want to hear your voice. Can I call you back?”
  • Schedule a 15 minute catch up and make it a standing meeting. Make it a practice to invite a friend to join you every time you’re going to get your nails done, or hit a fitness class.
