What’s a misconception about the LGBTQ+ community you’d like to clear up?

I think there is this misconception that LGBTQIA+ folks want there to be this constant focus on their sexuality, gender, etc.

While this community does deserve times, places, and spaces to feel safe, liberated, and celebrated, there is also a lot of power in normalization and feeling like just another person on the planet.

Loving someone “unconventional” or going by certain pronouns is only part of who I am, and in a lot of ways, shouldn’t have a huge impact on how you function.

Instead of focusing on what makes us “other”, I think we need strike the balance of showing genuine interest, empathy, and respect with our ability keep a wider scope and keep moving forward.
