ELECTION DAY

We’re Going To Be Alright, America

LLast night, trapped on a flight next to a moderately intoxicated lady who cheerfully confessed to drinking since 5 AM, I was thrust into an impromptu political discussion.

“You’re not voting for Trump, are you?” she asked with a hint of accusation in her voice.

My anxiety wasn’t about discussing politics—a favorite topic of mine—but the exhausting prospect of navigating this high-stakes conversation in such a confined space.

Laughing off her inquiry, I realized this wasn’t just about politics.

It was about the emotional rollercoaster we’ve all been on as November 5th looms on the horizon. It’s like waiting for the next episode of “America” to drop, isn’t it? Knowing it’s coming doesn’t quite ease the jittery anticipation for the plot twists ahead.

As much as I relish a hearty political debate, there’s a part of me that’s just…tired. The constant barrage of news, the endless analyzing—sometimes, it feels like too much. And here we are, strapped in together, bracing for the finale of this season’s political saga.

Whether it’s Trump or Harris, the curtain will soon close on this act, and we’ll step into the aftermath. But here’s the reassuring bit: despite the fervor, this election, like those before it, will pass. We’ll find our way through the post-election fog, just as we always have—navigating awkward dinners and strained conversations until they fade into the backdrop of our lives.

This isn’t to downplay the importance of what’s at stake, but to offer a gentle reminder that this, too, is temporary.

We’ve weathered political storms before and emerged, not unscathed, but certainly intact. Our resilience as a community, as a nation, is nothing short of remarkable.

So, as we count down to election day, let’s hold onto that thought. Whatever the outcome, life will go on. We’ll adjust, we’ll adapt, and yes, we’ll continue to thrive. Because that’s what we do.

Here’s to moving forward—regardless of who wins—embracing whatever this season of “America” has in store for us. Cheers to our beautiful country and the resilience of its people.

PET OF THE WEEK

Meet Bella

Bella, a 9-year-old rescue from North Carolina, is a unique blend of seven different dog breeds.

As a rescue dog, Bella is naturally skittish and takes time to warm up to new people. However, she forms strong bonds with those she trusts, particularly her human companion and her canine friends, Marshall and Tucker (both Labs) and Pepper (a Poodle). It took Bella three months to acclimate to Camp Bow Wow, but she now enjoys her time there and continues to make progress in her socialization.

Bella’s playful side emerges during nightly walks, which she insists upon by nudging her human’s arm or leg. Despite her quirky personality, she is deeply loved and cherished by her family!
