WELLNESS
Could ADHD Be Impacting You?
October is ADHD Awareness Month, and it’s the perfect time to talk about how ADHD shows up in women—often in unexpected ways. Women with ADHD are frequently underdiagnosed, which can make managing day-to-day life tricky. So, let’s break down some of the signs and why recognizing them is crucial.
How ADHD looks different in women
There are three types of ADHD: hyperactive-impulsive, predominantly inattentive, and combined. For women, it’s often the inattentive type, which can fly under the radar compared to the more obvious hyperactive symptoms seen in men. Because of this, women might not get diagnosed until much later in life (check out the TikTok hashtag).
Common signs you might be missing
ADHD doesn’t look the same for everyone, but here are 10 symptoms women might experience:
- Struggling to stay organized: Think clutter, missed appointments, or constant to-do list overwhelm.
- Frequent daydreaming: Zoning out more than you’d like to admit? This could be a sign.
- Feeling anxious or overwhelmed: Everyday tasks sometimes feel like mountains.
- Starting projects but not finishing them: The enthusiasm wears off quickly.
- Impulsive decisions: Acting first, thinking later.
- Constantly racing against time: Deadlines creeping up too fast? It’s a common struggle.
- Emotional rollercoasters: Quick mood changes could be linked to ADHD.
- Sensitivity to noise or crowds: Overstimulated? Sensory overload might be playing a part.
- Battling self-doubt: Low self-esteem can often tag along with ADHD.
- Procrastination nation: Consistently putting things off? Yeah, that’s another sign.
The cost of masking
Many women have mastered the art of masking their ADHD to fit societal expectations, but that comes with a heavy emotional toll. Constantly trying to seem “on top of things” when you feel like you’re drowning can lead to burnout and stress. The stigma that ADHD is just for kids or only about hyperactivity can make it harder for women to seek help.
Getting help
Accurate diagnosis is key, but it often requires digging deeper into gender-specific symptoms. From there, treatment options like medication, therapy, and practical strategies can dramatically improve quality of life.
Why it matters
Raising awareness isn’t just about diagnosis—it’s about helping women seek the support they need and break free from masking their symptoms. Understanding ADHD’s unique impact on women can lead to better mental health outcomes and empower more people to live authentically.

FOCUS & FLOW
Taming Your To-Do List Chaos
Managing time, fighting off distractions, and staying organized can feel like a battle—especially when juggling a busy workday. Here are 3 common scenarios with tips and tools to help you stay on track.
1. Time Management
- Time Blocking: Dedicate specific chunks of time for tasks.
- Pomodoro Technique: Work in 25-minute intervals with 5 minute breaks in between.
- Prioritization Matrix: Identify urgent vs. important tasks and knock out high-impact work first.
Tools to Try:
- monday.com for organizing tasks.
- Smartsheet for tracking progress.
- Toggl for time tracking.
2. Staying Organized
- Daily Reset: Spend 10 minutes organizing your workspace.
- Task Bundling: Group similar tasks to tackle in one go.
Tools to Try:
- Miro for brainstorming and workflows.
- Evernote for organizing notes and ideas.
- Notion for tracking projects.
3. Beating Distractions
- Distraction-Free Zone: Turn off notifications (phone and computer) and minimize clutter.
- Two-Minute Rule: If it takes less than two minutes, do it now.
Tools to Try:
- Forest to block distractions.
- Focus@Will for productivity-boosting music.
- Sanebox for filtering non-essential emails.
FINANCES
How I Handle My Finances
I always find it interesting to see how others manage their finances and track their budgets and spending.
Mine is a little different than others I’ve seen, but it works for me! Here’s my spreadsheet I’ve used for the last 10 years.
To help guide you along, I’ve labeled it A-I.
- Section A: This is where I monitor the cash in my Ally Bank account alongside the balance in my savings account.
- Section B: Here, I forecast my finances month by month. It includes total cash, expected salary, upcoming Amex bills, and other monthly expenses. This helps me play with numbers if my salary changes, or if I go on vacation and my AMEX bill is higher than usual.
- Section C & D: All my expenses are tracked meticulously here. I categorize them into ‘needs’ and ‘wants.’ Above this, in red, I can instantly see my total monthly expenses and what’s left as ‘Play Money,’ which goes into savings or for frivolous fun.
- Right Quadrant: This area of the spreadsheet covers my Savings Projections (E), Credit Card Repayment (F), Retirement Balances (G), Debts (H), and Bonds (I).
Smart Credit Management: When it comes to needing a loan, I always rely on 0% APR credit cards, ensuring I repay them within the promotional period. My go-to is often the Bank of America Travel Card with its 24-month 0% APR offer.
Debt Strategy: When I had a lot of debt, I used both the snowball and avalanche method. I know, it sounds weird but basically I did the math to see which debt was costing me more at certain times of my life and switch my method accordingly. By analyzing which debt costs more at different times, I adjusted my repayment strategy accordingly.
This spreadsheet has been instrumental in helping me achieve my financial goals, including becoming debt-free. It’s flexible, filled with useful formulas, and perfectly tailored to my life.
Hope this is helpful!
