Hallie’s Secrets
Q: What’s something you do to help boost your productivity?
A: I use a Weekly Execution Plan. I’ve used it every week for over eleven years to keep on top of my annual, monthly, and weekly goals and priorities. You can download your own copy here!
Q: How do you find work-life balance?
A: I prefer to use the term “work-life presence”.
Balance implies that there is an equal amount of time and/or energy spent at work and outside of work. But that is just not the case. Some weeks we’re working 70 hours to finish a project and other times we may find ourselves leaving the office very day at 2pm.
For me, focusing on work-life presence, or simply being present, reminds me that no matter what I’m doing — whether I’m on a Zoom call, coaching a client, writing a new article, walking the dogs, reading a book, or having lunch with my sister — that being present in the moment is what is truly important.
Long story, short — I create balance by focusing on being present.
Q: What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve received so far?
A: Self-leadership precedes leadership. You have to lead yourself first and focus on your own personal growth before anyone else will follow you.
Q: What’s your favorite software or app that helps with your workflow?
A: I lean on all of the Google Workspace apps pretty regularly. Though, my everyday flow relies mostly on my Weekly Execution Plan, my Google Calendar, and a small notebook for random reminders/to-dos. Simple and effective!
Q: What’s a book or podcast you’d recommend to a colleague?
A: So many! Depends on what the colleague is looking to learn or where they are currently experiencing challenges.
However, Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott is a must read.
The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu is simply inspiring.
The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte puts a whole new spin on goal setting.
The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results by Gary Keller & Jay Papasan is what productivity dreams are made of. So much gold in that book!
