You deserve a raise!
Don’t be ashamed to ask for more money.
I recently hired a new content manager and I had budgeted X amount for this position. When I went through the interview process, the candidate we selected ended up asking for HALF of what we budgeted.
As a business owner, I questioned hiring her. In the back of my mind I was thinking, “you get what you pay for”, but my gut was telling me differently. Deep down, I felt like she was gonna be really good.
Fast forward 3 months later, she was/is so good! We had an evaluation call and I told her how happy I was with her work and I asked if she wanted a raise. She hesitated but said yes.
I told her the truth about what my thoughts were before hiring her and that she shouldn’t be afraid to ask for more money because she’s very good at what she does.
She ultimately reminded me of a younger version of myself. Back then, I wish someone would have told me to ask for more money sooner.
