🌿 Prioritize self-care with these wellness practices that don’t cost a thing.

Takeaways:

• During severance negotiations, especially if pressured to resign or sign quickly, understand that the company’s urgency often indicates their concern about potential legal action. This gives you leverage.
• Use the company’s apprehension to your advantage. You can either negotiate to retain your job or secure a more favorable severance package. Don’t feel pressured to accept the first offer.
• When a company is acting desperately, consulting with an employment lawyer is crucial. They can help you understand the company’s motivations, assess your legal position, and maximize your negotiation outcome.

Takeaways:

• Deflect insults with inquiry: When faced with an insulting or hurtful remark, resist the urge to react emotionally. Instead, slow down the conversation by asking clarifying questions like, “What did you mean by that?”
• Expose gaslighting through detail: If someone tries to gaslight you or dismiss your feelings, press them for detailed explanations. By forcing them to articulate their reasoning, you can often reveal the weakness or absurdity of their claims.
• Use strategic incomprehension: “Playing dumb” can be a powerful tool when dealing with insults or manipulation. By feigning a lack of understanding, you shift the burden of explanation onto the other person, often exposing their intentions and disarming their attempts to hurt or deceive you.

Takeaways:

• Don’t discard beloved jeans that have become too loose. A basic needle and thread can be a surprisingly effective tool for minor adjustments.
• Carefully plan your stitch placement, using an angled line from the seam to the waistband, to ensure a natural and comfortable fit after tightening.
• Employ a zig-zag, funnel-like stitch pattern to efficiently take in excess fabric and achieve a noticeable size reduction in your jeans’ waistband.
