PRODUCTIVITY

A video still shows a person with text overlay that reads, “HOW I TRICK MYSELF INTO GETTING WORK DONE.” The background is slightly blurred, focusing on the bold white text with a play button in the center.

How to Get Yourself to Do Tasks You Don’t Want to Do

Takeaways:

  • Use a physical Pomodoro timer. Breaking work into timed sprints makes even the most dreadful tasks feel doable.
  • Gamify your tasks. Turning work into a challenge keeps things engaging and less of a drag.
  • Start with just 5 minutes. Getting over the starting hump often puts you in flow and makes it easier to keep going.

LEADERSHIP

Illustration of three people navigating a giant paper boat—one person is paddling, another is holding a flag, and a third is looking ahead through a telescope. The scene suggests teamwork, direction, and vision.

Lead Your Team Without Losing Your Sanity

The best leaders know their real job is about creating the conditions for their team to thrive. That means less time chasing receipts, rehashing calendars, or repeating directions, and more time coaching, inspiring, and building trust.

It starts with clear communication. A quick message on Slack keeps teams aligned, while Zendesk helps customers feel heard. From there, visibility is key. Tools like monday.com make priorities clear and progress transparent for everyone.

Respecting people’s time is another cornerstone of strong leadership. Homebase makes scheduling simple, while Square and Paychex take care of payroll in the background. Need financial clarity? Xero and Rippling Expense Management keep budgets tight and reimbursements easy.

Think of leadership as clearing the path. When you remove friction, your team gets to do their best work—and you get the space to lead with vision, confidence, and care.

JOB SEEKING

How to Land a Job With $200k-$500k+ Offers

Takeaways:

  • The current job market is tight. Since January 2024, there have been over 335,000 tech layoffs, creating an employer-driven market with high competition. Relying solely on job applications results in a low conversion rate of about 2%.
  • Traditional job-seeking methods are outdated. Frantically applying to jobs every day is an ineffective and outdated approach. A lack of strategy and relying on job boards are common mistakes that keep job-seekers stuck.
  • A systematic approach pays off: with the right mindset, an optimized LinkedIn and resume, and smart networking, people are landing jobs in ~84 days with average pay bumps of $42K+.

PRIVACY

Keep Your ChatGPT History Off Google

Takeaways:

  • Turn off share links: The most straightforward method is to disable shareable links in your ChatGPT settings by going to Settings > Data Controls > Chat History & Training.
  • Manually delete chats: You can delete individual sensitive chats by hovering over them and clicking the trash icon.
  • Request removal from Google: For any chats that have already been indexed, you can use Google Search Console to request their removal after searching for your name and the domain site:chat.openai.com.

PAYROLL

The Hidden Payroll Pitfalls Every Leader Should Know

Few things strike fear in a leader’s heart like payroll day. One tiny mistake can mean delayed paychecks, frustrated employees, and messy compliance issues you really don’t want to explain.

Some of the biggest pitfalls?

  • Misclassifying employees vs. contractors
  • Missing tax deadlines (hello, penalties)
  • Manual data entry errors that throw everything off
  • Forgetting about ever-changing state and local rules

Payroll is about trust—get it wrong, and morale drops instantly. That’s why smart leaders turn to tools built to make it painless:

✨ Paychex — full payroll + HR support, benefits administration, retirement plans, and compliance expertise, all built to scale with your business.

✨ Patriot — budget-friendly payroll with unlimited runs, free direct deposit, and simple add-ons like time & attendance for small teams that value ease.

✨ OnPay — payroll in minutes, automated tax filings, integrated benefits, and seamless onboarding tools that make growing teams feel effortless.

Bottom line: payroll doesn’t have to be stressful. Pick the right system, pay people right, and get back to the work that actually grows your business.

👉 Lead smarter: choose a payroll partner that has your back.

HOME

A hand places a lily stem into a tall glass vase filled with water. Text on the image reads “lily – Straight cut,” showing how to prepare the flower.

Make Your Store-Bought Flowers Last Longer

Takeaways:

  • Use a straight cut for hollow or soft stems (e.g. tulips, lilies, sunflowers). Use a diagonal cut for woody or thick stems (e.g. roses, hydrangeas) to increase surface area for water absorption.
  • Your water level matter. Low water is best for tulips, ranunculus, and sunflowers (less than half a vase). High water is needed for lilies and other thirstier blooms.
  • Keep leaves above the waterline and refresh water every couple of days to extend vase life and prevent bacteria buildup.
