Brainteaser of the day: A farmer needs to take a fox, a chicken, and a sack of grain across a river. The only way across the river is by a small boat, which can only hold the farmer and one of the three items. Left unsupervised, the chicken will eat the grain, and the fox will eat the chicken. However, the fox won’t try to eat the grain, and neither the fox nor the chicken will wander off. How does the farmer get everything across the river?

As an EA I had a regular habit that served me well.
I carved out time every month to check in on how I was going, where I was going and how I was feeling. Not my performance goals, a more personal check in that was all about me, not what I could deliver for the organisation I was in.
I began doing this after noticing all of my executives spent time regularly thinking about themselves. Their career. Their success. Their happiness. Their development. Their professional relationships. Everything they needed to rise and rise and rise.
I noticed they treated their careers not just as a job, but as their BUSINESS.
They didn’t just work IN their business (doing their job), they prioritised working ON it.
I got on board with this habit after noticing how laser focused it made them.

Aries – Work smarter, not harder!
Aries, you a true fire sign and have a lot of passion that you put into your work. But what if you could achieve better results with less effort? Well, you can! Working harder does not always mean you will receive any extra reward or recognition for the extra effort and so instead, choose to work smarter. Think about what you could do to make your role easier. Delegate and outsource what you can. You do not need to do everything on your own. Working smarter will free up your brain space to be able to achieve more at a higher level down the road, as opposed to working yourself into the ground.
Taurus – Time to network!
Great news for your career as Jupiter is living in Pisces, your 11th house of business, networking, and communication. Use this to your advantage in October by doing things a little bit differently! Make the active effort to get out there and network with people – people who may be able to offer you work opportunities or people who have professionally achieved something you would like to. Take a risk. All of the energy you put into moving your career along this month will be amplified 100x.
Gemini – Dress for the job you want!
Dress for the job you want, Gemini, not the job you have. To attract your dream job, that promotion, or even a well-earned pay rise, you must act as though you are already operating at that level. This will send an energetic message to the universe and deliver the goods even sooner than you can imagine! The simplest way is dressing how you would dress if you already had that perfect role – the rest will follow.
Cancer – Communication will win the day!
Things may have felt like an uphill battle so far this year, Cancer, when it comes to your career. Your balance has been off at work, and you may be feeling fatigued. It all comes back to communication. Are you expressing to your bosses/peers/yourself what it is that you need to do your job to the best of your ability? Open a channel of communication in expressing your needs and wants at work, and things will begin to flow much easier.
Leo – Focus on the side hustle!
Creativity constantly flows inside Leo, whether they choose to acknowledge it or not. This means there is a side hustle that lives in you all – a way of making fun money, something you enjoy and are good at, which can complement your main sources of income. It may seem like extra effort, but your career house is being illuminated right now, meaning it is the perfect time to take a gamble… the universe will reward you!
Scorpio – Listen to your Intuition!
Right now, Scorpio, your intuition is on fire when it comes to work and career. This means you have to take a back seat and let it lead you to where you need to be. If your gut tells you something about a person or a situation at work, then listen to it. Even if it feels uncomfortable at first, go with it! It will only feel uncomfortable if you have spent a long time ignoring your gut at work, so that is another thing for you to notice.
Sagittarius – Opportunities are incoming!
During October, you are guaranteed new opportunities. Doors will be opened to you that we were previously closed & expect to be surprised by how quickly things can change for you. However, when opportunity knocks, you must be ready. If you are on the back foot and not prepared, you will miss the opportunities heading your way and may not even notice them at all. It is all about perspective. Make sure you are seeing the glass half full and not the glass half empty.
Virgo – Get planning for tougher times!
Prepare to strap in as Mars goes into retrograde in Gemini on October 30th, right at the end of this month. This means opportunities will slow down and blockages at work. You may experience a lack of inspiration after this point, so it is vital to use October to prepare for your next steps. How can you put things in place to help you through this hard, dry spell? Fail to prepare, then prepare to fail!
Libra – You are a money magnet!
This month could be very financially lucrative for you, Libra. October 25th sees a solar eclipse happen in Scorpio in your house of money! It may be a raise, a gift, or an exciting new business opportunity. This will come as welcome news for many of you, as for some Libras, things have been tight recently. Take this energy to work on having a boss attitude. Know your worth, and watch the money flow to you easily, all year round.
Capricorn – Make friends at work!
For your career to excel this month, you must put your focus on something slightly different… friendships! But how will that help my career? I hear you ask! Get to know the people you work with, invite them on social dates, grab them a coffee in the morning or make an effort to bring you closer. You will soon see these relationships and friendships you make paying off in many, many ways giving your career a need add of zest.
Aquarius – It is time for ‘new’!
New year, new you! Well… not quite a new year, but nonetheless, this is the energy you should be employed in your work during October. Start new projects, build new relationships, and focus on getting new clients! Whatever the word ‘new’ means to your career… go for it! It is time to freshen things up, and this is the trick to do just that!
Pisces – Fuel your creativity!
A very lucrative financial time is coming for you just before the end of the year in December, but to achieve that, your focus right now must be on fueling your creativity. Start new projects, go to the cinema, and enjoy a theater trip! Whatever it is, that will kick start your imagination as this will lead to financially whopping situations for you in your career over the next few months. You may work in a job that feels like it crushes your creativity, but there is ALWAYS a way to get creative – and if anyone can find it, it’s a Pisces!
