Brainteaser of the day: Four people come to a river at night. There is a narrow bridge, and they have only one flashlight. The bridge can only hold two people at a time, and the group must cross it in the shortest possible time. Each person walks at a different speed: one can cross the bridge in 1 minute, another in 2 minutes, the third in 5 minutes, and the slowest in 10 minutes. When two people cross the bridge together, they must go at the slower person’s pace. What’s the shortest time for all four to cross the bridge?

FROM RICHAEL BONETTI

How to Know Whether it’s the Right Time to Leave Your Current Job

Throughout my career I often had conversations with assistants in my teams who were bored, unmotivated, unchallenged, over it, or chasing a pay increase. They were thinking about moving on.

When we got to the heart of what was going on, in many cases a change of company wasn’t going to solve the issue.

It was clear to me that they’d almost be guaranteed to find themselves feeling the same way 12 months later because they were leaving for the wrong reasons.

They hadn’t explored all possibilities in the current workplace, weren’t clear on what they really wanted next or where they’re going or what would bring longer term satisfaction and fulfilment at work.

If a root cause hasn’t been addressed, feelings of demotivation, dissatisfaction and boredom will return as soon as a new role is mastered, usually around the 1 year mark, and when the gloss of a new environment wears off.

PETS OF THE WEEK

Diesel

Diesel Pet of the Week

Diesel was adopted by his fam after he and is littermates were dropped off in a box near dumpster at a local groomers. He is 11 years old though most people believe him to be 2-3 (he still gets the zoomies)!

He has a loud bark and may look a bit menacing, however, the opposite is true. With the exception of our cat, no other creature is allowed in his territory that he paroles first thing in the morning and at night.

He is food driven and loves pizza crust, greenbeans, carrots, apples, peanut butter, chicken and anything else you might drop on the floor as long as it’s not a pickle or almond.

He loves rides in the car, long walks, talking (developing his old man grunts in the past year), and spreading out on any piece of furniture available!

💌 We’re huge pet lovers at The Assist and want to feature a pet each week — fill out this form for your fur baby to be featured!
