"Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you" - Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Brainteaser of the day: I am the beginning of sorrow and the end of sickness. You cannot express happiness without me, yet I am in the midst of crosses. I am always in risk, but never in danger. You may find me in the sun, but I am never out of darkness.

TOGETHER WITH OFFICE OTTER

To-Do List Zero

Office Otter

You may have heard of inbox zero, but have you heard of to-do list zero?

It doesn’t mean you have to complete every single thing on your list, but it does mean you’re clearing through your tasks at the end of each day by either completing them or setting time in the future to make sure they get done.

Luckily, Office Otter has a robust number of features that are completely user friendly and will help you achieve to-do list zero, like converting your daily convos into tasks, tagging tasks by priority, and the ability to integrate with your calendar (time blocking FTW!) — to name a few.

YOU DO YOU

Have You Heard of Box Breathing?

We live in a world that is full of stress and anxiety.

From work deadlines to family obligations (not to mention news headlines), it can sometimes feel like we’re constantly under pressure.

Box breathing is a simple but effective breathing technique that can help to calm the mind and body.

Here’s the basic principle:

  • 😮‍💨 breathe in for four counts,
  • 😶 hold your breath for four counts,
  • 💨 breathe out for four counts
  • 🔁 and then repeat.

The act of focusing on your breath and counting to four helps to clear your mind and focus your thoughts. And the deep, rhythmic breathing helps to relax your body and lower your heart rate.

So next time you’re feeling stressed or anxious, try box breathing. Just four count breaths can help you to feel calmer and more in control.

PETS OF THE WEEK

Lisa

Lisa Pet of the week

This is Lisa, a fish tank guardian. Lisa was adopted 5 years ago when she was only 2 months old.

Her adoption story

Lisa and her 5 siblings were abandoned near the railways. A beautiful soul rescued them and took them to a pet shop.

The vets posted the dogs’ photos on Facebook and that’s when her now-owner “saw her adorable little face [and] fell in love [with her] at first sight.” When Lisa was let out of her cage, she walked straight up to her now-owner — “I picked her up and she seemed so comfortable there…as if she’d been there all her life!”

We’re huge pet lovers at The Assist and want to feature a pet each week — send us a photo of your fur baby to be featured!

💌  Reply to this email with your pet’s name, photo and a fun fact about your pet.

P.S. Consider fostering if you have the capacity.
